In a blog post detailing updates for GTA Online and Red Dead Online, Rockstar also slipped in some information about Grand Theft Auto V. The studio plans on releasing Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online on current-gen consoles November 11, 2021. Originally unveiled during Sony’s PlayStation 5 digital event in June 2020, Rockstar had promised to bring these titles to the current-gen by the second half of 2021. They’re keeping that promise, bringing enhanced versions of Grand Theft Auto V and GTA Online to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X.
Rockstar did not give many details on what players can expect from these enhanced versions, only mentioning “new features” for the current-gen. They also announced plans for Grand Theft Auto III’s upcoming 20th anniversary, which will have surprises for GTA Online. Rockstar also mentioned that players can pick up standalone versions of either Grand Theft Auto V or GTA Online for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. PlayStation 5 players will get free access to GTA Online for the first three months as part of a timed-exclusivity deal with Sony. Rockstar promised to give out more concrete information about these releases at a later date.
