Guerilla Games has finally unveiled the release date for Horizon Forbidden West. Despite delays related to the pandemic, the developers continued working hard to bring the Horizon Zero Dawn sequel to life. Aloy’s journey continues on February 18, 2022, launching exclusively on the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5.
Our last update on Horizon Forbidden West happened during PlayStation’s State of Play back in May. We got to experience brand new game footage, witnessing the polished graphics, and Aloy’s new tools and swimming capabilities. Guerilla Games didn’t yet have a launch date for the game. Horizon Forbidden West’s game director, Mathijs de Jonge, released a new post on the official PlayStation blog announcing the news. The State of Play footage came from the game’s final stages of development, and now the studio is pushing toward the official launch. The developers would have loved to release the game sooner, but the pandemic forced them to overhaul numerous logistics and protocols. Hopefully once we get our hands on the game, it’ll have been worth the wait.
Additionally, Horizon Zero Dawn’s PlayStation 5 version gets a new update today. The forward compatible version is now playable at a targeted 60 FPS. The patch is free for all owners of the game. The update will happen automatically for anyone who currently has the game on their system. New players can find the 60 FPS patch on the Horizon Zero Dawn product page.
Pre-orders for Horizon Forbidden West start on September 2. Stay on the lookout for more information in the coming week.
