Right off the heels of NieR Replicant, the “version upgrade” of the 2010 cult classic NieR, Creative Director Yoko Taro is back with a new entry for players in the West. NieR Reincarnation is a mobile game that continues the ongoing saga of the franchise. Already released in Japan, Square-Enix just announced that pre-registration for the English version of NieR Reincarnation is now open for Android and iOS.

Developed by Applibot and published by Square-Enix, NieR Reincarnation carries on many of the franchise’s staples, with action RPG combat, an emotional story, and a wonderful soundtrack by longtime series composer Keiichi Okabe. As a free-to-play game, players can expect the usual microtransactions with in-game currency, this time called gems. Square-Enix is offering tiered rewards with gems depending on how many players pre-register, with up to 3,000 gems for 300,000 users. Anyone who pre-registers will receive their gems at the start of the game.

Eager players can pre-register for NieR Reincarnation on Square-Enix’s website. Anyone unfamiliar with the NieR saga will want to start with the recently-released NieR Replicant, the 2017 action RPG hit NieR: Automata, or even the 2010 release of NieR for those who want to start with the series’ roots. Be sure to take a look at our review of NieR Replicant, and our retrospective on the original NieR, for an idea of what awaits in the world of NieR Reincarnation.
