Xbox Live Gold owners get to enjoy a quadruple of free games on the house every month, thanks to Microsoft’s Games with Gold program. Next month, however, the company is shaking things up by offering a total of 5 free games to members — perhaps as an attempt to appease gamers irritated by the recent increase in price for Xbox Live Gold.
Two of the four games tend to be current-gen titles, while the other two are Xbox 360 games that current-gen console owners can also play via Backward Compatibility. But in February, Microsoft is also throwing in Gears 5 for free, which both Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S owners can download and start playing anytime in the month.
The other two modern titles are Resident Evil, the 2015 remaster of the 2002 classic horror title from Capcom, and Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition, the 2D platformer from Brazilian game studio Long Hat House. Meanwhile, the classic titles include Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb, a 2003 action-adventure title by The Collective, and Capcom’s cult-classic sci-fi shooter Lost Planet 2. The former of the two is especially relevant, what with the now-Microsoft-owned Bethesda Games partnering with Lucasfilm Games for a new Indiana Jones game.
The games will be available for Xbox Live Gold members to claim on the following dates:
- Gears 5 — February 1 to 28
- Resident Evil — February 1 to 28
- Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition — February 16 to March 15
- Indiana Jones and the Emperor’s Tomb — Available February 1 to 15
- Lost Planet 2 — February 16 to 28
Once claimed, the games will be free for you to play for as long as you maintain an active Xbox Live Gold subscription.
